NFDP Breaks Ground in Spain, Ties sealed with Real Madrid CF & Sevilla FC

Leveraging off our partners relationship with Real Madrid, Yayasan Rakyat Satu Malaysia (YR1M) introduced an excellent opportunity for National Football Development Programme (NFDP) to work not only with Real Madrid but also the Spanish FA.

Behind YR1M is the Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Ung Su Lin who had earlier signed up with Real Madrid to run grassroots coaching clinics in Sarawak for 6 weeks from the rural to the urban areas. Representing Real Madrid was their legend and capped Spanish player, Victor Sanchez.

Realising NFDP were running academies and tournaments for age groups, both Su Lin and Victor discussed with NFDP on how the programmes could evolve into tours both ways for academies from Spain and Malaysia to play each other this year.

NFDP were invited to explore opportunities to tour Spain this June, kicking off its Spanish tour by playing Madrid based clubs namely Real Madrid, Athletico Madrid, Rayo Vallacano and the Spanish FA's own youth development programme.

The NFDP visiting party led by the Directors of NFDP, Yakub Hussaini & Dax Muhamad were given the opportunity to visit Real Madrid academy while watching the Under 17 train and later on the Spanish FA's u 12 play in a community league in Madrid area with matches being played in the modern Spanish FA's world class facilities where our Malaysia U-13 boys will be potentially staying in June.





The Spanish tour by our Under-13 squad will not just end in Madrid as Tourism Malaysia has a unique sponsorship deal with Sevilla FC in the south of Spain. The team potentially will be playing a few more games in the Seville area and hopefully prepare themselves for both Iber Cup Costa Del Sol & Iber Cup Estoril being the last stop of the tour.
