Successful Team Up Brings Victory For Kelantan - Azman

18 Mac, 2015

KOTA BAHARU, March 18 (Bernama) -- Kelantan manager Azman Ibrahim said the 1-0 victory over Kuala Lumpur in the FA Cup competition last night was due to the strong performance shown by the attack force comprising local and foreign strikers.

He said the style of play shown by the Kelantan team was clearly different after fielding a mix of local and foreign players compared to using two imported players in the attack force.

"There was an improvement in performance and there were many attempts at goal compared to the previous match, we hope to improve the style of play (subsequently).

"There was certainly a difference when the imported and local players teamed up in the attack force compared to using two imported players, we must evaluate from various angles for future matches," he told reporters at a media conference, here last night.

Asked on the absence of Kelantan coach George Boateng at the match last night, Azman said the Dutch-born coach had a slight health problem and could not make it to the match.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur manager Dr Zulakbal Abd Karim said despite the loss, he was still satisfied with the style of play shown by all his players.

"We lost but the players had given their best, we put up the best performance during the match," he said.

Kelantan edged Kuala Lumpur 1-0 in the FA Cup at the Stadium Sultan Muhammad IV here, last night after Wan Zack Haikal Wan Nor scored the solitary goal in the 64th minute.

Kelantan will face a club team, Sime Darby FC in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup scheduled for April 7 or 8.
