SELAYANG: Goals are what strikers live for.
And it’s the same with Sime Darby striker Nemanja Vidakovic.
The Serbian scored a brace to help Sime Darby to a 4-2 win over Police in their FA Cup third round clash at the Selayang Stadium on Tuesday.
The first, in the 75th minute, was a well-placed header into the top corner of the net after getting on to the end of a Marko Perovic freekick.
His second, just four minutes later, came when he latched onto a through pass by Fahrul Razi Kamaruddin to slot the ball past goalkeeper Badrulzaman Abdul Halim.
Those two goals have whetted his appetite – and increased his goal count to six for the season, including the hat-trick in the club’s 5-1 drubbing of PBAPP FC in the second round of the Cup.
The 29-year-old, who is making his debut in the M-League, feels that he’s ready to score more goals this season.
“After a few matches, I’m starting to get a feel of Malaysian football,” said Vidakovic.
“My performance is beginning to improve and I think I can go on to score more goals ... maybe 15, or even 20.”
How Sime Darby must be wishing that he can actually find the net more regularly as they are currently propping up the Super League standings with just one point after four straight losses and a draw from five matches.
But Vidakovic remains positive that “we are just going through a rough patch ... we’ll make a comeback”..
