PETALING JAYA: Perak coach Datuk M. Karathu is set to field a three-pronged attack to ensure a goal feast against Terengganu.
The 71-year-old former international plans to start with all their three foreign strikers, including new transfer window signing Horace James of Jamaica, in the FA Cup quarter-finals first-leg match at the Sultan Mohd Ismail Stadium in Kuala Terengganu on Tuesday.
“I want to maximise the services of the foreign strikers. At the moment, I am pleased with the young set of local midfielders in the team led by Ahmad Sukri Abdul Hamid and G. Mugenthiran. They have been working hard in every game,” said Karathu.
Perak will go into Tuesday’s match full of confidence after an emphatic 4-1 win over Felda United in the Super League on Saturday.
Brazilian striker Charles Chad starred with a hat-trick while South Korean hitman Namkung Woong contributed the other goal.
Karathu believes Woong, previously a midfielder, will add punch to their attack.
“Woong is quite skilful and a big asset to the team. He is strong in the air, too,” said Karathu.
The other Brazilian in the squad is defender Thiago Junio while James is a replacement for midfielder Marco Tulio Lopes Silva.
“James has yet to receive the International Transfer Certificate (ITC) from his former club, FC Edmonton in the North American Soccer League.
“We expect to get the ITC on time. For sure we want to get the strongest line-up possible because Terengganu will be no pushovers in front of their home fans,” said Karathu.
