SELAYANG: Kelantan coach Mohd Azraai Khor can’t stop gushing about his Colombian hitman Erwin Carillo.

It was Carillo who scored the opening goal in their 1-1 FA Cup quarter-finals, first-leg draw with Sime Darby at the Selayang Stadium on Tuesday.

Carillo was quick to pounce on a poor backward header by Sime Darby midfielder Abdul Halim Zainal before scoring past goalkeeper Mohd Suffian Abdul Rahman in the 45th minute of the game.

He also proved to be a constant threat to Sime Darby’s backline.

“He is a very strong player ... he has speed and skill. Unfortunately, he was alone up front most of the time,” said Azraai.

“Erwin needs support, so hopefully I can get a striker to partner him in attack together with a playmaker.”

The former Kedah coach is also looking to replace their two other foreign imports – Liberian midfielder Isaac Pupo and Cameroonian forward Emmanuel Kenmogne – before their next Super League home game against Pahang on Saturday.

The duo were criticised for their lacklustre performances in the team’s 2-1 loss to Terengganu last Saturday.

“Their attitude has changed since it became clear that they would lose their places in the team.

We’re already paying them good salaries and if we still have to plead with them to play, then there is no point in playing them,” said Azraai of the two players who were left on the bench against Sime Darby.
