JOHOR BARU: Keep up the good work, boys!

Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) coah Bojan Hodak has described his team’s 2-0 AFC Cup Group F win over Kitchee SC of Hong Kong on Tuesday as a great boost for the Super League champions.

Now, he wants them to reproduce that form when they welcome Kelantan in a Super League match at the Larkin Stadium on Saturday.

“The boys played a perfect game (against Kitchee) ... were in control of the match early on and put pressure on the Kitchee defence.

“It worked well and we scored two goals. The win has helped put us in control of the group,” he said.

The win moved the Southern Tigers to the top of Group F with nine points – two more than the Hong Kong side.

JDT scored two goals through Argentinean forward Luciano Figueroa in the 17th minute and national player Safiq Rahim, who converted a penalty in the 42nd minute.

Hodak was especially pleased with the performance of Figueroa, who was out of the team for a long period due to injuries.

“He scored a good goal and helped the team to have confidence playing against a team who were last season’s AFC Cup finalists.

“Our two wingers – S. Chanturu and S. Kunalan – were also effective in attack ... their runs helped us penetrate the Kitchee defence,” said Hodak, who wants JDT to focus on winning their two remaining matches against East Bengal of India and Balestier of Singapore to ensure they become group winners.

But, for now, he wants his men to train their sights on Kelantan this weekend.
