Attacking Play Helps AT Petaling Perdana U11 Win As Mohd Hafiza Fikri Performs for AT Kinta Utara U12

23 Ogos, 2015

After a three-month long break for Ramadhan and Aidilfitri, it was back to business for Liga Akademi Tunas Zon (LATZ) where games were held in Penang, Perak, Melaka, and Terengganu.

Liga Akademi Tunas Zon Tengah was held at Padang Bolasepak FRU, Ipoh where the best performing team of the afternoon was AT Petaling Perdana U11. Coached by Samsul Ibrahim, the boys of Petaling Perdana played with an attacking flair where the brunt of their attacks were coming from the wings. They dominated possession and set the tempo of play according to what was comfortable for them, managing to put seven goals past AT Bandar Tun Razak U11 in their first game, and twelve against AT Wangsa Maju U11 whilst conceding none.

According to AT Petaling Perdana U11 coach, Samsul Ibrahim, although they won by huge margins, he did not look at the results as reward. He was instead more proud of the quality of play displayed by his team because he says that he focuses on the development of his players rather than winning. AT Petaling Perdana U11 displayed chemistry and a solid style of play that suits them. If they continue the way they do, there is no reason why the team should not flourish in the future.

Though AT Petaling Perdana U11 performed well, the award for best player of the afternoon falls to Mohd Hafiza Fikri of AT Kinta Utara U12. The defensive midfielder came away from the afternoon with three assists and a goal to his name, showing passion and heart in defending and going forward. He improved his short passing since the last round of games and had defended well against attacks, often breaking the opponents' play and momentum.

Hailing from Taiping, Perak, the midfielder was called up to the Malaysia Under-12 squad but did not make the final cut to represent the country to Saitama, Japan for the Saitama International Junior Football Tournament (Under 12), held between 21st and 27th July 2015. This did not diminish his spirit however as he ended the round of LATZ Tengah games as one of the outstanding performers.

Despite the long break, it was an afternoon full of quality football displayed by both the teams and players with many teams finding their edge and their feet.
