Young Hopefuls Showcase Talent in Liga Akademi Tunas Kebangsaan

There were mixed results this weekend as this week's round of Liga Akademi Tunas Kebangsaan (LATK) Under-10's, Under-11's, and Under-12's games sees the best players from North Zone go against the best players from Sabah and Sarawak. North Zone was represented by AT Kedah, AT Perlis, and AT Penang, whereas Sabah and Sarawak were represented by AT Sabah and AT Sarawak respectively. The games were held in ISN, Bukit Jalil, while Kompleks Sukan Gong Badak, Kuala Terengganu hosted LATK for teams from East and Central Zone.

The players representing each of the teams played their best but there were three top performing players from Saturday's round of games; Muhammad Sabran, Raja Muhammad Haikal, and Muhd Al-Amin.

Muhammad Sabran, 12, plays for AT Sabah U12 as centre back. The defender put in tackle after tackle all afternoon, preventing opposition strikers from getting into dangerous positions. Muhammad Sabran was comfortable in holding the line for AT Sabah U12. Playing football since the age of 7, the young centre back said that his passion for football stems from his father who pushes his children to play sports, especially football. Though he has ambitions to join the army, Muhammad Sabran said he would still play football with a passion.



This round of games saw teams record big scores so it was the strikers who were on their game. Raja Muhammad Haikal, 11, plays as a forward for AT Kedah U11. Playing since he was 9, the striker was quick on his feet, and consistently troubled opposing keepers with his shooting. He was rewarded for his hard work as he managed to notch two goals in AT Kedah U11's 3-2 loss against AT Sarawak U11, and a goal against AT Sabah U11. Raja Muhammad Haikal dreams of playing football professionally and hopes to ply his trade for a club overseas.



Another forward who performed well was Muhd Al-Amin of AT Perlis U10. Muhd Al-Amin scored one goal in AT Perlis U10's 4-0 win against AT Sarawak U10 though the striker should have gotten more as he caused havoc against opposition defenders. Muhd Al-Amin says he looks up to Brazil and Barcelona legend Ronaldinho and he wants to emulate his idol in terms of the Brazilian's skill and shooting ability.



Saturday afternoon's round of LATK games produced some quality football with many teams recording big wins against their opponents.
