Sarawak U13 Bounce Back Against Johor U13

Sarawak Under-13 (U13) stole the show at this weekend's round of Liga Kebangsaan (LK) Under-13 and Under-15 games, held at Padang ISN, Bukit Jalil. Teams from Sabah and Sarawak Zone went against teams from the South Zone who were represented by Melaka and Johor.

Sarawak U13 played with a different tactical set-up and mindset going into this week as compared to their last Liga Kebangsaan round at Padang Maktab Sultan Ismail in Kelantan where they lost a 3-goal margin to both Terengganu and Kelantan. They were the team on form this weekend as they went head to head with Johor U13 and both teams produced one of the most tightly contested and entertaining matches of the afternoon.

Both teams played quick, counter-attacking football in a high tempo game which saw plenty of chances at both ends of the pitch. Sarawak U13 had more attempts at goal and saw several chances ruined by the woodwork. The first goal of the game was scored by Mohd Fitri of Sarawak U13 who buried a screamer past the Johor U13 goalkeeper.

Johor U13 managed to get an equaliser through quick passing play that carved open the Sarawak U13 defence to produce a simple tap-in. The scores stayed level until the dying minutes of the game where a cross from the wing set up Samuel Kuta who headed in the winning goal for Sarawak U13. The game ended Sarawak U13 2-1 Johor U13. This was sweet revenge for Sarawak U13 as their last game against Johor U13 saw them soundly beaten by the South Zone team. In their second game againts Melaka U13, Sarawak U13 managed to get a 1-0 lead but halfway through the game officials stopped the play and called off the match due to heavy rain and waterlogged pitch. The game would be postponed to the following day.

The Sarawak U13-Melaka U13 game was called off due to bad weather.

Though bad weather caused some games to be postponed, this weekend's round of Liga Kebangsaan games saw some entertaining matches being played as teams from Sabah, Sarawak and South Zone displayed quick, attacking football.
