NFDP Terengganu in SuperMokh Cup 2016

NFDP Terengganu took the opening day plaudits by beating highly fancied Uzbekistan side FC Bunyodkor in their Group A Under-12 game in Maybank Bangi. The 16-strong team helmed by Ahmad Shahiruddin Bin Abd. Manan struck two early goals to kill off the Uzbeks. The first goal came through Muhd Azrul Iman Muhd Yusof in the 8th minute with Muhd Zarif Haikal Kechik adding on to it just 7 minutes later.

On the victory

I’m happy to open our campaign with a victory and satisfied with we got out of today. As the tournament progresses however, there are things that we should be looking at to improve. Our confidence, for example; we started the game looking a bundle of nerves. Gradually, as we saw more of the ball, we built on that and managed to get comfortable. Today, however, is not the final product. There’s a lot more work to be done on this side.

On the opponents, FC Bunyodkor

They play a good game; I’m impressed especially with the physical aspect of their game. We had to give our all to match them on the field, to beat them 2-1.

On their next opponents. Sporting CP

My target for tomorrow agaisnt Sporting is for my players to play a good game and to not lose the NFDP way of playing as have been taught to them all this while. If we do that, God willing, we will keep our winning momentum.

NFDP Terengganu will meet Sporting CP in Field A, Maybank Bangi at 11:00 am.
