Venue : MSN Field D & E, Bukit Jalil
Date : 16th December 2016

Session 1 (0830)

U-14 : Cup Quarter Final 2
Buriram United 1-3 Malaysia Cougars (U-14)

Field D saw the Cougars complete a memorable come-from behind victory against favourites Buriram United. The home side settled into their stride early on but it was Buriram who took the lead through Jiramet Janngam, a strike oozing with class as he chipped in a shot over the Cougar keeper’s head into the net.

The strike served to inject urgency into what is already determined Cougar display, and they were rewarded in the 15th minute when Alif Daniel thumps in a cross from the left hand side into goal. 1-1. The match hung precariously in balance till 2 minutes to halftime when a counterattack from the Cougars finds the ball floated in from the right this time. The Buriram keeper looked favourite all the way to claiming the cross, but he made a hash of it leaving Alif Daniel with a gilt-edged edge he simply couldn’t, and didn’t turn down. 2-1 to the Cougars at half-time.

The gloves were simply off in the second half with both teams knowing that the next goal is as good as 3 in such a pressure-cooker situation. What timing it is then for a cool head to arrive on the scene, as the 43rd minute saw Luqman Hakim with a run all the way from the centre circle right into the Thai penalty box. He took it past 3 desperate Buriram lunges before a squaring sweetly for Amirul Ashrafiq to tap in a simple finish and seal the deal on a semifinal ticket.

U-12 : Cup Quarter-Final 4
Malaysia Cougars 1-0 Evergrande FS

Field E saw Cougars defeating Evergrande FS 1-0, the goal coming through Adam Uwais in the 9th minute of the game.

Session 2 (1100)

U-14 : Cup Quarter Final 4
Sporting CP 2-1 Malaysia Panthers (U-14)

Right from the start, Sporting CP showed Malaysia Panthers who’s the boss in Field D, a steady stream of passes from the middle supplying their front line with plenty of ammunition to terrorise the home side.

The 11th minute saw the Panthers broken down as low pass into the area from Fransisco Fernandes finds Bruno Miguel Costa, who knifes in a first –timed finish. Panther’s Muhammad Azrul Haikal, however, restored parity in the 15th minute with a clever feint and curled finish after a short stab through the middle.

Barely had the cheers of the equalizer died down, when Sporting CP popped up with their second goal of the game in the 20th minute. Joao Miguel simply at the right place at the right time, with a freekick from outside the box thumping off the post back to him to head in for a 2-1 halftime lead.

The second half saw the Panthers revving up their engines to breaking point, with Danial Amali in particular standing out in attack . All that however, came to nought, no small part due to an inspiring performance between the sticks by the Sporting CP goalkeeper.

U-12 : Cup Quarter-Final 2
Malaysia Tigers 4-1 Guri Junior FC

Field E saw Malaysia Tigers destroying Korean side Guri Junior FC with a brace coming from Sabri Abdullah.
